(로마=연합뉴스) 전성훈 특파원 = 이탈리아 정부 내에서 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19)의 경제적 충격에 따른 '가을 위기론'이 대두되고 있다.

현지 언론에 따르면 루치아나 라모르게세 내무장관은 9일(현지시간) 한 라디오 방송에 출연해 "9월이나 10월쯤 현재 진행 중인 심각한 경제 위기의 결과를 보게 될 것"이라며 이 위기가 매우 엄중한 상황을 초래할 수 있다고 우려했다.

아울러 최근 들어 법 집행과 질서 유지를 담당하는 공권력을 겨냥한 적대감이 고조되는 징후가 있다면서 이러한 위기가 소요 사태 등 국가적 혼란으로 이어질 가능성도 염려했다.

그는 정부가 정책적으로 최선의 노력을 하고 있지만 여전히 생계 유지를 위한 최소한의 필요조차 충족하지 못하는 시민들이 상당수 존재한다고 짚었다.

앞서 이탈리아 노동조합들도 이대로 가다가는 가을쯤 사회적 불안을 피하지 못할 것이라고 경고했다.

이탈리아는 2월 중순 유럽에서 가장 먼저 코로나19 확산 사태를 겪으며 3만4천명이 넘는 큰 인명피해를 봤다.

코로나19의 경제적 충격을 최소화하고자 4월 말부터 점진적으로 봉쇄를 완화했으나 경기 침체는 더 깊어지는 추세다.

자금 사정으로 많은 상점은 여전히 셔터를 내린 상태이고, 미래에 대한 불안으로 소비자들은 지갑을 닫고 있다고 현지 언론은 전했다.

이탈리아 국내총생산(GDP)의 13%를 차지하는 관광업의 침체가 특히 심각하다.

현지 호텔업을 대표하는 단체인 '페데랄베르기'(Federalberghi)는 6월 이탈리아 관광산업이 전년 같은달 대비 80.6% 수축했다고 9일 밝혔다. 해외 관광객 유입은 93.2%나 준 것으로 나타났다.

많은 경제기관은 올해 이탈리아 경제가 -10% 안팎의 역성장을 기록할 것으로 예상한다.

경제컨설팅업체인 '프로메테이아'는 최근 이탈리아 경제가 2025년에야 코로나19 이전 수준을 회복할 것이라는 암울한 전망을 내놓기도 했다.
